RSI

Filter in the app: RSI > 70 · RSI < 30

RSI means relative strength index. It is a momentum oscillator, not a map of future price. The usual setting is 14 periods. Readings above 70 are called overbought, and readings below 30 are called oversold. Those words are old labels, not instructions. People search for RSI when they want to know what the number is measuring. In PatternLabs the buttons are RSI > 70 and RSI < 30. This page explains RSI and how a scan uses it. It is not financial advice, and an RSI reading does not mean price will go up.

What RSI shows

The relative strength index compares recent gains with recent losses over its period and scales the result from 0 to 100. A high RSI means recent candles have been dominated by gains. A low RSI means recent candles have been dominated by losses. On a selected timeframe, PatternLabs uses a 14-period RSI. The buttons are RSI > 70 and RSI < 30. RSI above 70 says the recent window was strong. RSI below 30 says the recent window was weak. Neither sentence says the next window must reverse. Markets can stay above 70 or below 30 while the trend continues.

What RSI does not say

RSI is not a buy button at 30 and not a sell button at 70. A high RSI in a strong rise can stay high. A low RSI in a strong drop can stay low. Divergence between RSI and price is a separate observation, and this filter does not claim to trade it. PatternLabs does not turn an RSI match into an order. The filter finds pairs where the RSI condition is present. The number is context. It is not a result.

How to look for RSI in PatternLabs

Open PatternLabs, choose a market, and add RSI > 70 or RSI < 30 to the filter chain. The condition is checked on the timeframe you select, using a 14-period relative strength index. The scan lists crypto spot and forex pairs where that button matches. Open a chart before you treat the number as the whole story. You can combine them with Volume, BOS, EMA 9/21 ↑, EMA 9/21 ↓, EMA 50/200 ↑, or EMA 50/200 ↓.

How to read a match

Look at where RSI sits and what price was doing while it got there. An RSI cross of 70 during a news spike is not the same as an RSI that has lived above 70 for many candles. Check a second timeframe so one 14-period reading is not asked to explain every swing. PatternLabs shows the match. This explanation of RSI does not tell you to buy oversold markets or to sell overbought ones, and it does not promise a profit.
